SYNOPSIS

The Third Chamber of the United Hearts

Perfection in Virtue

WHAT IS IT

This is the Chamber from which Jesus chooses His saints, His martyrs of love; the one in which His martyrs of love are formed. It is perfection of the virtues.

WHO CAN ENTER

The soul, rooted in Holy and Divine Love. As the soul becomes aware of the POWER of the present moment, Jesus draws him into the Third Chamber of His Heart which is perfection in virtue.

HOW DO YOU ENTER

As the soul surrenders more and more to the Divine Will in the present moment, he prepares himself for entrance into the Third Chamber. When the soul's spiritual desires become spiritual needs from a more pure love and attempts to polish the virtues in his heart and refine them in the eyes of God, the soul moves into the Third Chamber.

HOW IS IT EXPERIENCED / WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE

Here, virtues bloom and the fruits of the Spirit ripen, but it is also the Chamber where souls are most severely tested by Satan.

This Chamber brings noticeable change - the progress that the heart has made in the first Two Chambers comes to light. The flame of love in the heart of the soul spills out into the world around him. The soul strives to conform to the Divine Will of God the Father.

The soul is given introspection as to his practice of every virtue in thought, word and deed and puts all his effort into being perfected in the virtues. He prays for them, practices them diligently and fine tunes them with the help of grace. The virtues are deepened through an awareness of imperfections in the present moment. The soul's holiness is fine-tuned by testing the virtues over and over as gold in the Flame of Divine Love, for it is the test that strengthens or weakens virtue according to the soul's response.

ENCOURAGEMENTS

The simplest heart is the one whose main goal in life is to please God and others.

Simplicity is the handrail along the staircase of virtues. Without simplicity, the other virtues collapse. Pray for this virtue.

The soul needs to use heroic virtue in this Chamber lest he slip into discouragement. He practices the virtues diligently, prays for them in his soul, and when God sees a worthy effort, He infuses the soul with these virtues.

As the soul's holiness is refined, the soul is prepared for the next (Fourth) Chamber.

CONTEMPLATIONS

Virtue is nothing but well-directed love and each virtue needs to come to perfection in order for the whole to be perfected.

Every virtue is fastened to Holy Humility - Holy Love. True Holy Love is loving God's Divine Will in the present moment. Neither of these virtues can be acquired through the intellect, but only in the heart. Both of these virtues require a lessening of self-love. The more the soul loses sight of self, the more God fills the void. These two virtues work together in the heart to lead the soul into the Fourth Chamber. One cannot work apart from the other. Without them the other virtues do not enter the heart.

In every present moment the soul is given the grace to be heroic in virtue. All that stops him is his free will. He hesitates - considering the cost to himself. The soul can only advance in perfection of the virtue when he practices the virtue amidst trials - for it is in the test that the virtue comes to perfection."

"The soul must never consider himself perfect in any virtue. He should never think: 'I was patient yesterday so now I have perfected the virtue of patience' - for the next test may be even greater than the last. Each soul needs to ask for the grace upon arising to be virtuous throughout the day."

"Say upon arising:"

"Dear Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, open my heart to the grace I need to be perfected in virtue today in every present moment." "Amen."

The soul can move as deeply into Jesus' Heart as he desires. The more he strips himself of self love, the deeper he grows in virtue and into the Chambers of His Heart.

The soul conscientiously making the journey through the Chambers must pray to be given the gift of knowing his weaknesses - knowing when he is off-key. It is only in this self-knowledge the soul can advance and his spiritual health brought to perfection. It is in this cause for perfection the recipe for personal holiness is completed - the symphony of virtues melodious to God's Ears.
